Chas. V. Bean, aged about 45 years, met almost instant death Saturday evening when his automobile, which he apparently lost control of, collided with the engine pulling passenger train No. 7, at the crossing near Appleby's coal office, on S. 10th Street. The train was late and was going at high speed when his automobile struck the engine about midway between the drive wheels of the speeding engine, wrecking the car and so badly injuring him that he died within five minutes. With him in the care was a dog, which was uninjured, as the dog jumped just before the impact. Funeral services were held at the residence Monday morning and interment was in the Bean Cemetery near Cleone.
