CATHARINE NEIFFER - Widow of Samuel Neiffer, of Neiffer, died from Apoplexy, at the home of Jacob G. Grimley, Justice of the Peace at Zieglersville, on Thursday afternoon at 1:15 o'clock. She and her son Samuel were executors of her late husbands estate and were just about done transferring properties in the office of Mr. Grimley at about 9 o'clock when it was noticed that she was unable to speak while talking to her son in law, J. R. Reed. She was asked whether she was ill, but she said "no" and continued to speak until her tongue was completely paralyzed. Gentle hands place her on a lounge. Dr. C. B. Dotterer was called at once, but, pronounced her case hopeless. She sank into unconsciousness gradually and remained so until death. The children were quickly notified, but only one was able to reach her side before the fatal spark had fled. The deceased enjoyed all winter more than her usual good health, though she often spoke that her end was near, her children could not believe that she was not good yet for many years. She was a very estimable woman, a good wife and mother, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her maiden name was Keelor, and she is the last of that prominent and long lived family. Her age was 78 years, 3 months, and 8 days. Her husband died a year ago this month. The following children survive: Sarah, wife of A. H. Richard, of Rudy; Kate, wife of Isaac Alderfer, of Limerick; David of Philadelphia; Amanda, wife of C. B. Roth; Samuel and Clara, wife of P. Frank Roth, all of Neiffer; Ida, wife of J. R. Reed, of Spring Mount; and Dr. Milton K. Neiffer, of Wyncote. The funeral was held on Tuesday, and the remains were buried at Keelor's Church Cemetery. Rev. J. L. Roush, conducted the services and undertaker J. E. Shilick was in charge of the remains.
