Annie Bell Hood was born in Itawamba County, Mississippi in 1897 to James Hood and Sarah Chaney Hood. Her tomb reads 1893, but according to census records 1897 is more accurate. Annie Bell Hood married William Moody O'Mary on May 24, 1914 at Mulberyy Springs Church in Sulligent, Lamar County, Alabama. Her husband William Moody was recently widowed with a child named Clarence. In addition to Clarence Annie and Moody raised 6 additional children of their own including Osbon, Grady, Ruby Gray, Eugene, Daniel and Virginia. Annie died at age 65 on August 10, 1962. She, her husband Moody, Clarence and at least 3 infants (possibly 4) are buried at Holliday Cemetery in Lamar County, Alabama on Highway 14 Military Grove Road. Annie was my great grandmother, mother to my grandmother Ruby Gray O'Mary Merchant.

Funeral Services were held Sunday at the Military Grove Church for Mrs. Annie Bell O'Mary , age, 65, who died Friday in the Lamar County Hospital at Vernon. Mrs. O'Mary was a member of the Assembly of God and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Gray Merchant, Sulligent, and Mrs. Virginia Guyton, Rock Island, Ill.; five sons, Osborn O'Mary, Sulligent, Clarence O'Mary, Detroit, Grady O'Mary and Daniel O'Mary of Rock Island, Ill., and Eugene O'Mary of Vernon; one brother Bennie Hood, Sulligent; two sisters, Mrs. Alvie Reed,Vernon and Mrs. Vernon King , Wash.,D.C.; 23 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Burial was in the Holliday Cemetery under the direction of Brock's Brown funeral home.
