Samuel McDowell (Mack) Quest was one of 60 cowboys of Captain Seth Bullock's Cowboy Brigade that went to Washington DC in March of 1905 to ride their horses in the inaugural parade to honor Teddy Roosevelt. Mack rode a bronc for the president.

He ranched in Weston County, Wyoming and was a friend of Tom Mix. He married Hannah Anderson in 1907 in Sheridan, WY. He had no children and died of cancer of the bowels brought on by all that rough riding.
