John Newton Shipp, 86, of Fayetteville, died Sunday in a Bentonville nursing home. Born Mar. 27, 1896 in Dardenelle, the son of Taylor and Celia Witt Shipp, he was a self-employed laborer and had lived most of his life in the Northwest Arkansas area. He was a member of Zion's Rest Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Stella Gregory of Modesto, Calif. and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Burns Funeral Home of Bentonville with burial in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Visitations will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel.
