ROUTH, ROGER E., 78, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at the Washington County Memorial Hospital. Roger was a life long resident of Washington County. He was the youngest of seven children born to the late Noble and Lena (Jackson) Routh. Roger was a faithful member of the Smedley Church of Christ, where he served as an Elder for many years. He formerly worked at Warren's Sweet Shop, Smith Cabinet and B.F. Goodrich and also was a farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of over 56 years, Mary Lou (Mahuron) Routh; two brothers, Gene Routh and Arthur Routh; and two sisters, Opal Young and Luella Todd. He is survived by his children, a son, David Routh, of Salem; a daughter, Teresa Pervine (Robert), of Murray, KY; two grandchildren, Tracy Shumake (Phillip), of Lexington, KY and Trevor Pervine (Amy), of Mayfield, KY; two great-grandchildren, Addison Pervine and Andrew Shumake; two sisters, Maysell Maudlin and Juanita Russell, both of Salem; and a number of other family members and friends. His funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Smedley Church of Christ, with Jonathan Purkhiser and Joshua Coles officiating. Burial will follow in Smedley Cemetery. Visitation will be held 3-9 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. - noon Saturday at Weathers Funeral Home and 1-2 p.m. at the church.
