WABASH--Robert Samuel Long, 88, 1237 Alber St., died at 2:05 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003, at the Wabash Skilled Care Center.
He was born on Feb. 25, 1915, in Wabash County, to Ulysses S. Grant and Matilda Jane (Amber) Long. He married Anna Louise Jones on Jan. 6, 1937, in Wabash. She died on Nov. 15, 1995.
He was a tool and die maker at Diehl Machines, Wabash Metals, and GenCorp, and retired in 1980 from DataVue Products. He was a member of the Bachelor Creek Church of Christ.
Surviving are a son, Grant Robert (Janie) Long, Wabash; a daughter, Sally Ann (Long) Mullett, Logansport; two sisters, Farie Binford, Wabash, and Grace Elbel, Peru; 11 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild. One son, Douglas Lee Long, two brothers and six sisters are deceased.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Bachelor Creek Church of Christ. Mike Duggan will officiate. #Burial will be in Falls Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Avenue Chapel. Preferred memorials are to the Bachelor Creek Church of Christ or the Leukemia Foundation.
