Corporal Charles T. Covert
Charles T. Covert was born on August 20, 1841, the son of Morris Covert (1814-1875) and Jane (Wright) Covert (????-1847) at New Athens, Harrison County, Ohio. He was living at Antioch, Monroe County, Ohio, when, at 20 years old, he enlisted with his older brother, John S. Covert (1839-1921) as a Private on October 14, 1861, for a 3-year service in Battery H, 1st Ohio Light Artillery. During his service, he was promoted to Corporal.
Having served his three years, he and his brother John, were discharged on October 14, 1864. He died on December 19, 1865, at Lucas County, Ohio and is buried at Unity Baptist Cemetery, Antioch, Monroe County, Ohio. Corporal Charles T. Covert was 23 years old.
