Mr. Alton Norris Thompson, 68, died June 16, 2000, at St Joseph Hospital, Savannah. The funeral was at Friendship Baptist Church with the Revs. Ken Burk and David Burk officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Thompson, a native of Screven County, had retired as an inspector from Great Dane Co. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Heath Thompson; two sons, Allen Norris Thompson, Portal, and Gary Alton Thompson, Hephzibah; his mother, Vetta Weaver Thompson, Sylvania; a brother, L. Hayward Thompson, Sylvania; two sisters, Beverly T. Friese and Jeaneen T. Scott, both of Sylvania and four grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Brian Bohannon, Randy Reddick, Russell Chance, Ryan Reddick, Charles Scott and Thomas Lariscy.
