Major league baseball player 1884-1897. Pitcher and position player for the Kansas City Unions, Chicago White Stockings, Chicago Colts, and the St. Louis Browns.

Died March 19, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo.

Father, the Rev. William Hutchison (B A. 1854); tutor at Yale, missionary in Constantinople, and principal of Norwich (Conn ) Free Academy; son of the Rev. William Hutchison and Helen (Seabold) Hutchison.

Mother, Forresta Germana (Shepherd) Hutchison; daughter of Forrest Shepherd (B.A. Yale and Dartmouth 1827, M.A. Western Reserve 1884) and Sophia (Storer) Shepherd, sister of George R. Shepherd, '66 M , and sister-in-law of the Rev. Charles T. Weitzel, '69; descendant of John Shephard, who settled at Newtown (now Cambridge), Mass.

Heness German School, New Haven, and Norwich Free Academy Member Class Baseball Team four years and University Baseball Team three years (captain in 1880), Yale Glee Club, College Choir, Delta Kappa, He Boule, Delta Kappa Epsilon, and Scroll and Key. Took special engineering course at Sheffield Scientific School 1880-81 (member University Baseball Team during that time); then went to Biddeford, Maine, to learn cotton manufacturing business, but was obliged to give it up at the end of a year on account of ill health; then engaged in the railroad business in Kansas City for two years, and subsequently entered employ of Burlington, Cedar Rapids & Northern Railroad Company, with his headquarters in Cedar Rapids; had always retained his interest in baseball, playing with local clubs for several years; in 1890 joined the Chicago National League Team and remained with them until 1897; had since been contracting agent in freight traffic department of The Kansas City Southern Railway at Kansas City; member First Congregational Church in that city.

Unmarried.

Death due to cardiac weakness. Buried in family lot in Yantic Cemetery, Norwich. Leaves no relatives nearer than cousins, one of whom is Forrest Shepherd, '92.
