Anne J. Halverson, age 93, of Astoria, SD died December 27, 2009 at the Hendricks Hospital in Hendricks, MN as a result of a stroke suffered on December 19, 2009.

Burial was in the Singsaas Cemetery, rural Hendricks.

Anne Johanna (Fredrickson) Halverson was born on September 25, 1916 in Hudson, South Dakota to Bendt and Borgny (Bjorlykke) Fredrickson.

She attended school at Hudson and Alcester, graduating from Alcester. She continued her education at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD. Upon completion of her education, she taught in Wilmot and Astoria, SD.

On June 24, 1944 Anne was united in marriage to Gilmore Halverson. They lived and farmed two miles east of Astoria until Gilmore's death in 1987. In 1988, Anne moved to an apartment in Astoria where she lived until moving to the Villa Apartments in Hendricks in April of 2009.

She died on December 27, 2009 as a result of a stroke in the Hendricks Hospital in Hendricks, MN at the age of 93.

She was a member of Singsaas Lutheran Church and WELCA. She was very active in 4-H, Community Club, Senior Citizens, Activity Club, Sons of Norway, Extension Club and 60's plus. Her hobbies included gardening, quilting, tatting and other crafts, cake decorating and writing letters.

Anne was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers: Jacob and Burt.

She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters: Mary (Phil) Weeldreyer, Chancellor, SD and Betty Blackford, Aurora, CO; three grandchildren: Tami (Kelly) Bittner, Marcus (Charish) Weeldreyer and Matthew (Amy) Blackford; three great-grand-children: Elsie, Maxwell and Jaxson; two sisters: Sally (Gene) Escher and Rachel (David) Larson; two sisters-in-law: Lorraine Fredrickson and Ardis (Allen) Ahre and many nieces and nephews.
