CIVIL WAR: Abner, his brothers Benjamin F, and William R, served in Co. F, 18th Regiment, Indiana Infantry

Abner was a Sergeant and Blacksmith in the 18th Regiment; he was discharged due to sickness. He later served as a Captain in Co. B, 139th Regiment (100 days). He later died of Cholera.

Six of his brothers also served in the Civil War.
