Joseph was the son of Noah Abbott and Nancy Hatcher-Abbott. He died at the age of 12 years from an infection caused from a cut on his toe.
Joseph was buried next to his mother, in the plot that was intended for his father, at Logan's Chapel Cemetery.
When Blount County put in a new road to the church, they placed it over the graves of Joseph and his mother, among others. All of the removed headstones were placed in a pile beside the church. When they did some remodeling and added on a new building, the church used the headstones in their new foundation.
For this reason, there is no marker to locate their graves. All I know is that the exact location of Nancy and Joseph Abbott was near the top of of a hill.(Abbott location in cemetery came from Nancy's grandson, who was my grandfather. When he was last there, the "lay of the land was entirely different" from when he remembered their stones being there).
