Uyless Napolean Hawkins, 85, died Saturday, January 15, 2005 at his residence following a long illness.

A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. Mr. Hawkins was a son of the late Clinton Starch Hawkins and Julia Catherine Sluder Hawkins.

He retired in June of 1980 from the Metropolitan Water & Sewage Department, was a Farmer for most of his life and served as a Bus Driver for Young's Bus Lines.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Thompson Hawkins of the home; daughter, Judy Hawkins Dillingham and husband, Mike of Bossier City, LA; grand daughters, Joy Nelson and husband, Mike of Bossier City, LA and Jill Hines and husband, Ronnie of Ruston, LA; great grandchildren, Chase, Joshua, Devan Claire and Julia Grace; sisters, Amalee McHaffee of Greer, S.C. and Gaynell Baldwin of Candler; brothers, Billy Hawkins of Candler, Howard Hawkins of St. Cloud, FL and Donald Hawkins of Candler.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. & Mrs. James Johnson and Rev. Worth Emory officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery.
