W. D. Church Dead.
The citizens of this community were greatly shocked when on Tuesday the news came that W. D. Church was dead. While it was known that he had been quite sick for a few days, it was hoped and believed that he would soon recover. But it was not to be and he passed away about 2 p m at his home in Hebron on Tuesday last at the age of 62 years. Dunham, was he was familiarly called by most people, was known to all the citizens in this vicinity, he having been one of the Pioneers of Chester and built the first business house in our little city, the one occupied by D A Kopp at present. He was identified with the business interest of the town for a number of years, having run a lumber yard here for long time. He leaves a mother, widow, two sons, three brothers, three sisters and a host of friends to mourn his loss. The remains will be laid to rest in the Chester cemetery (sic) tomorrow (Friday) afternoon. The funeral will be under the auspices of the Masonic Fraternity, assisted by the I O O F and A O U W societies to all of which he belonged. The Herald's sincerest sympathies go out to the bereaved ones in this their hour of great sorrow.
