Lester H. Mattes Dies Suddenly Monday Morning
Funeral services for Lester H. Mattes, 48, were held yesterday, Wednesday. Mr. Mattes collapsed and died at work before 8:00 a.m. Monday. He was employed at the Arps corporation plant in New Holstein.
Mr. Mattes was born October 10, 1908 at Collins. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Mattes. He made his home in Kiel and attended local schools. His marriage to Miss Esther Mueller, Kiel, was performed September 3, 1940, by Rev. John Scheib of Kaukauna at the Evangelical and Reformed Church, Kaukauna. Mr. Mattes was a member of the Kiel Volunteer Fire Department, and St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed church, and was active as a Girl Scout advisory committee member.
Survivors are his wife, a daughter, Suzanne, and three brothers, Phillip J., Kiel; Henry, Sheboygan; and Woodrow, Brothertown. A sister, Mrs. Lester Meiselwitz died last December.
