Clarksburg Man Who Dies in Soldiers' Home Found To Have Large Sum

George D. Horton of Clarksburg, a veteran of the civil war, had upward of $2000 in his pockets when he died at the soldiers' home in Bennington, Vt., Sunday morning, according to information that reached North Adams Monday. Horton was an inmate of the North Adams hospital for some time until last week Wednesday, when he was removed to the soldiers' home in Bennington. He was a member of Co. A, 2d Vermont regiment, and after the war he settled in Clarksburg, where he had since lived. He owned considerable property at one time and was highly regarded by all who knew him. For several years past he had been a member of C.D. Sanford post.
