Herbert Mansel Branham, Sr. was born October 6, 1889. His parents were Emanuel and Amanda Boulware Branham. He was one of eight children. His siblings are: Burrell M., Ben Tillman, Mary Eunice, Reuben, Henry Ezelle, Tally and Daisy. He married Janie Mae Branham on November 13, 1913 and they had twelve children. They are: Herbert Mansel,Jr., Helen Lenora, Ruby Elma, Harvey D., Bessie Ruth, Alfred Samuel, Mildred Lucille, James Richard[killed in auto accident], Ferris, Vernon Odell, Janie Mae,and Horace Lamar. Herbert lived in and around Fairfield County, mostly in the Centerville area most of his life. He was a farmer and a wonderful carpenter. He also worked in the pulpwood business; anything to make a living for his family. He served as Constable for Fairfield County for a while. Herbert was a strict father and a good husband and provider for his family. He was predeceased by one son, Richard, in October 1944. Richard was only 15 years old. Herbert dien June 28, 1975.
