Bette McClure Reed, 82, of North Manchester, a member of Congregational Christian Church, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
The Wabash County native attended Manchester College. She was North Manchester clerk-treasurer for 16 years before retiring in 1980. Surviving are her son, James A. of Burnsville, Minn.; daughters Nancy J. Reed of North Manchester and Bette Jo Grube of South Whitley; a brother, Thomas A. McClure of Pointe Vedra Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L., and a daughter, Cathy A. Bilodeau. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester, with calling one hour before services. Calling will also be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Grandstaff-Hentgen, Bender Chapel, North Manchester. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery. Memorials are to American Red Cross, American Heart Association or Wabash County Cancer Society.
