Brandon Eugene Massey, 49, was called home suddenly to our Lord on Dec. 27, 2009.
Born in Norfolk, Va., on March 29, 1960, Brandon grew up in Newport News and graduated from Menchville High School in 1978. Brandon was a loving and devoted father, son and brother. He lived his life to the fullest and dearly loved his family. By his willingness to help without regard for himself, Brandon's family and friends knew that his generosity was unlimited.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Wilson and Rose Heaton, and Juanita Waldrop.
He is survived by his daughters, Rachel Victoria Thruston and her mother, Caressa Knick, and Barbara Marie Morris and her mother, Melanie Whitehead; his parents, Marlin and Barbara Massey of Newport News; brothers, Raymond Massey of Kingston Springs, Tenn., and Steven Massey; and sister, Cathy Mulcahy of Newport News. He is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts and cousins, all in the area. We will miss him dearly.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at Weymouth Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at St. Jerome Catholic Church by the Rev. Joseph Majewski. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association , P.O. Box 5216. Glenn Allen, VA 23058.
