Martin Beamen Moore of Gatesville died Tuesday at a local nursing home. He was 93.
Services will be held today (Thursday) at 11 a.m. at Scott's Funeral Home with Rev. Roddy Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Restland Cemetery.
Mr. Moore was born March 8, 1900, in Ellis County, son of the late Robert T. and Effie Moore. He was reared and attended school in Coryell County, and married Miss Mabel Shelton on April 2,1922, in the Ewing community.
He resided in Pearl from 1935 to 1954 where he owned and operated a service station. He moved to Gatesville in 1954 and later retired from Civil Service as a PX Warehouse sales Manager.
His wife preceded him in death on April 4, 1973.
He was a member and deacon of Calvary Baptist Church in Gatesville.
Survivors include one daughter, Nada Turner of Red Oak; two sons, Robert Moore of Uvalde and Martin B. Moore Jr. of Roy, Utah; two sisters, Eunice Bates of Brady and Lela Jones of Waco; one brother, Will Moore of Wimberly; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were deacons of Calvary Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Gatesville.
