Funeral Service Mrs. M. H. Walker Held Sunday

Funeral services were held from the First Presbyterian Church in Rosenberg Sunday afternoon, Jan. 28, for Mrs. Minnie Howard Walker, who passed away in Houston Friday, Jan. 26, after an extended illness, with Rev. Dawson Tunnell officiating.

Deceased was born near Atkinson, Illinois, on Oct. 28, 1864, to Phoebe and James A. [Sic.] Howard. At the age of about twenty, she moved with her parents to South Dakota where they lived as pioneers. For a number of years she taught school and on April 13, 1889, she was united in marriage to John S. Walker who preceded her in death on June 9, 1943. To this union eight children were born, all of whom survive. In the fall of 1912 she and her husband brought their family to Beasely, Texas, which was her home until her death. In her youth she joined the presbyterian [sic.] Church and as long as her health would permit, she took an active interest in church and community affairs.

Surviving are three sons--Glenn H. Walker of Beasley, F. Lloyd Walker of Houston and Walter W. Walker of Purcell, Oklahoma; five daughters, Mrs. Phoebe Leddy of Hungerford, Mrs. Ruth Engel of Beasley, Mrs. Cleo King, Miss Grace Walker and Miss Carol Walker, all of Houston; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. A. C. Boyles of Big Timber, Montana.

Pallbearers were six of her grandsons, Jack Leddy, Ralph Walker, Lloyd Engel, Wayne Walker, Joe McNeil, and Oran Edwards.

Burial was in the W.O.W. Cemetery in Rosenberg, with services under the direction of the Foerster Funeral Home.
