1919-2008
Donovan L. "Don" Reynolds, 89, of St. Joseph, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at the local hospital.
Mr. Reynolds was born Jan. 2, 1919, in Agency, Mo., to Elmer and Marie (Jones) Reynolds and lived most of his life in St. Joseph.
He was employed with the S.S. Kresge Co. in St. Joseph; North American Aviation in Kansas City, Kan.; and then was in the building materials business in St. Joseph for 10 years.
Donovan joined the St. Joseph Museum in 1955 as preparator-photographer and retired in 1983 after 29 years as the assistant director of the St. Joseph Museum and the Pony Express Stables. He had volunteered with the museum for 17 years prior to his employment.
He had been a member of the Missouri Archaeological Society since 1940 and had served several terms as trustee, and also was a member of the National Audubon Society and Northwest Missouri Audubon Society, where he served as trustee.
He is survived by his wife, Maudie Brinton of 64 years.
Additional survivors include his nieces and nephews, Joye Rhodes, St. Joseph; Glenda Banks, Lake George, Colo.; Gary Brinton, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Richard Thacker, Agency, Mo.; Steve Brinton, Eureka, Calif.; and Linda Edelman, Sarasota, Fla.
Mr. Reynolds was cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph. There will be no visitation nor service held.
