Charles J. Naab, 78, of Liberal, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born May 16, 1931, in Kinsley, to Joseph James and Rose Marie Paul Naab. He graduated from high school in Holcomb and graduated from Garden City Junior College.

On May 24, 1954, he married Janet M. Pulkrabek in Garden City. She died July 6, 2008.

Mr. Naab started an electrical motor rebuilding business in Scott City and moved it to Liberal in 1968 and he had continued to operate the business, the Electric Motor Service. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge No. 1947, Veterans of Foreign Wars Lane Day Post No. 3166 and American Legion Post No. 80, all at Liberal, belonged to the E.A.S.A. Association, was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, loved to fish and bowled for many years.

Survivors include a son, Kim Naab of Liberal; three daughters, Valerie Clavin of Bausworth, Mo., Colleen Johnson of Turpin, Okla., and Tamra Clanton of Liberal; three brothers, Harold and Ronald Naab, both of Garden City, and Patrick Naab of Austin, Texas; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two grandsons, R.C. Angel Johnson and Gordon Monroe.

Rosary was at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Liberal. Mass of Christian Burial was at the church. Burial was at Liberal Cemetery with military honors conducted.
