An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Thursday, May 20, 1976:

Mrs. Roy (Pearl) Gilchrest, former Gatesville resident, died Thursday in a Temple nursing home. She was 76.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Friday at Scott's Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Plez Todd officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery.
Mrs. Gilchrest, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Archie Bailey, was born in Moody Feb. 8, 1900, and was reared in that community.
She was married to Roy Gilchrest on Dec. 25, 1920, in Moody. They lived in Moody and Oglesby before moving to Gatesville in 1942. Mr. Gilchrest died in 1968.
Mrs. Gilchrest moved from Gatesville to Temple two years ago.
She was a member of the old Keener Chapel Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Isbell of Temple, Mrs. Simon (Belmarie) Dyson of Grand Prairie and Mrs. John (Lavetta) Jones of Belton; two sons, Darrell Gilchrest of Fort Worth and Garnett Gilchrest of Pine Bluff, Ark.; one brother, Charlie Bailey of Moody; four sisters, Mrs. Oma Holder of Houston, Mrs. Nellie Guthrie of Troy, Mrs. Thelma Harrison of Waco and Mrs. Sadie Lasly of Houston; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Gilchrest's funeral were Charles Melton, Garnett W. Gilchrest, Lonnie Ray Gilchrest, Keith Raynick and Charles Gilchrest, Jr.
