Chester Cyril Hudson, 81, died Sept. 28 in a local nursing home.
Funeral services were held Oct. 1 at Scott's Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Restland Cemetery. Dr. Curtis Beaird and Rev. Tilly officiated.
Mr. Hudson was born Oct. 3, 1903, in Seagoville, the son of the late Charles and Ethel Hudson.
He married Lura Talley on Nov. 26, 1924. She died Feb. 14, 1967.
He married Mozelle Adams on Oct. 3, 1970.
He moved from McGregor to Gatesville in 1935.
He was a retired retail salesman, retiring from Scott's Furniture Store in 1977. He was also a former employee of Painter Dry Goods and Stillman Dry Good Store of Gatesville.
He was ordained a Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Gatesville at the age of 21 and began teaching Sunday School at that age and taught until 1977.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Betty Augustauska of Falls Church, Va., and Bobby Hancock of Stephenville; one stepdaughter, Pam Brasher of Sterrett, Ala., one brother, Hern Hudson of McGregor; two sisters, Alberta Jones of McGregor and Mae Lamb of Oglesby; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and two step grandchildren.
Pallbearers at the funeral services were Frank Morgan, Bill Davis, O'Neal Reneau, Jack Straw, Harlin Huffman and Bill Hale.
