Edmund Hagler Yancey married Rachel Rhodes in Austin City, Nevada in 1876. Between 1877 and 1880 they lived in Klamath County. During this time Edmund freighted supplies from the Rovue Valley to the military fort at Fort Klamath.
The family moved to Prinveville, Cottage Grove, Merlin, then back to Klamath County in the early 1900's. They built a home at Shippington. He freighted and then logged with his son Frank.
They were the parents of eight children; Ella, Ivan, Ida, Ethel Ann, Carl Clifford, Washington Irvin, Frank Lincoln and Hester Susanna Yancey.
