Daughter of the late Thomas Alfred Pilgrim, Sr., and Myrtle Kennemore Pilgrim, she was the widow of Rudolph Wheeler. She was survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James "Jim" and Cindy Wheeler; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Calvin Chumley; grandchildren, Tabatha Chumley, Becky Feehan (Terry), and Jeff Tankersley (Laura); four great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Alfred Pilgrim, Jr., (Marie); sisters-in-law, Mary Martin, Doris Corn and Katie Wheeler; aunt, Emmie Lou Pilgrim; several cousins and an extended family of relatives. Her funeral was held June 13, 2009, with The Rev. Travis Bridgeman officiating.
