Arlowe M. Johnson, 78 of Braham, passed away peacefully at his home April 2, 2003.

Services were April 6 at Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church. Music was provided by Jon Scheele and Ruth Grundyson. Burial was in Rice Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Herb Olson, Bob Evenson, Carl Larson, Ken Evenson, and Ray White. Active pallbearers were Doug and James Lind, Daniel Carlson, Jeff Johnson, Bryan Johnson, and Kimberly Carlson.

Arlowe Mervyn Johnson was born August 24, 1924 in Hanska, MN to Olga and Henry Johnson. He attended school in Olivia, then moved to Brunswick in 1941 and graduated from Mora High School in 1942. After high school Arlowe and his family moved to a farm in the Rice Lake area. He served in the U.S. Army, was stationed in Japan and was honorably discharged in 1946. He attended art school in Minneapolis and then took a position on an iron ore ship sailing the Great Lakes for several years. He married Dorothy Nelson January 6, 1952 in Braham. They lived on a small farm north of Braham on the Snake River where they raised three daughters. He attended Lee's Barber School in St. Paul then opened Arlo's Barber Shop in 1964 in Braham. He barbered and painted signs in Braham until he retired in 1989. Arlowe enjoyed living in the country, growing trees, fishing, cutting wood, and gardening. He had a mischievous sense of humor and always enjoyed having fun. He liked reading the paper every day, doing the crossword puzzle and keeping up on world events. Playing cards with his close friends was especially important to him. He will be remembered for his humility, his artistic abilities, and his love of family and friends.

He was preceded in death parents, Henry and Olga Johnson; daughter Kathryn and brothers Warren and Robert D. Johnson.
