Ruby Marie Wallace, age 76, of Bergland, Michigan died at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the home of her daughter in Kinross, Michigan.

Her parents were Waino Raymond Hautamaki and Martha Marie (Lungi) Hautamaki that gave home birth to her on December 16, 1932 in Mass City, Michigan. Ruby Hautamaki grew up and graduated high school in Mass City, Michigan and then moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico, where she met her husband of 46 years Calvin Stewart Wallace. They were married in Roswell, New Mexico, on September 19, 1953. They lived in California, Texas, Nevada, and Oklahoma before returning home to Michigan. For the past 33 years Ruby has lived in her home in Bergland, Michigan. Ruby attended Gogebic Community College where she acquired her degree in Culinary Arts and then later returned for a Nursing degree. Ruby spent many years of her life working as a cook and enjoyed tasting and trying new foods and recipes. Ruby also worked as a LPN and as a nurse in Home Healthcare. Ruby was a dedicated and trusted hard worker always willing to help others. She loved to spend time with her family, but above all visiting with her children over many cups of coffee.

Ruby Wallace was spontaneous, adventurous and trusting. She loved to travel, shop, and help her family. Ruby was a collector of many things and a generous spirit to those in her life. She enjoyed spending time reading books, magazines, and watching movies. She is DEARLY loved by her family and friends and will forever be missed and remembered.

Ruby was survived by two daughters, Debra (John) Schoch of Ontonagon, Michigan, and Diane (Patrick) Sliger of Kinross; three sons, Stewart (Melissa) Wallace of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Calvin Wallace of Jacksonville, Florida, and Christopher (Elizabeth) Wallace of Jacksonville, Florida; seven grandchildren, Simone (Patrick) Raines, Anders Henderson, Nicholas Sliger, Breanna Sliger, Nathan Puzio, Hannah Wallace, and Jessi Wallace; and two great grandchildren, Vincent and Lillian Raines. Ruby was also survived by three brothers, Peter Hautamaki of Ontonagon, Richard (Carolyn Sue) Hautamaki of Friendswood, Texas, and John Hautamaki of Bergland; and one sister, Pauline (James) Cayanus of Nisula, Michigan.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband Calvin Wallace.
