Katherine Manley Horner passed from this life on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 4:40 pm in Abilene, Texas at the age of 93. Services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Santa Anna, Texas with Rev. Jeff Reid Officiating. Interment will follow at the Santa Anna Cemetery with services under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 till 7 pm at Henderson Funeral Home.

Katherine was born July 6, 1920 in Ada, Oklahoma to the late Jasper A and Marcie Simpson Manley. She moved with her parents to Texas at the age of ten and graduated from Santa Anna High School in 1939. Katherine was a member of the First Baptist of Santa Anna for more than 60 years where she taught 4 and 5 year old in Sunday School for many years.

During World II, she worked in the Aircraft Inspection Department and Tech Order Department at Love Field,in Dallas, Texas. On September 1, 1945 Katherine married James Carson Horner and they celebrated thirteen years of marriage. Carson preceded her in death on September 9, 1958. She worked at the Santa Anna Tile Plant and as a Nurse's Aide in Coleman and Santa Anna.

Survivors: 2 Daughters – LaWanda Kay (:Hosch) Lemen and husband Robert of Abilene, Texas; Margueritte Martin and husband Warren of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; Jerry Horner and wife Carol of Holliday, Texas; Sister-in-law Oma Dean Horner of Santa Anna, Texas; 6 Grandchildren, 9 step Grandchildren and 21 Great and Step Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Katherine was preceded in death by son-in-law Gary Hosch, infant granddaughter Teresa Horner, 2 sisters, 2 half sisters, brother and 2 half brothers

The family wishes to thank the staff of Wisteria Nursing Place and Hendrick Hospice Care for their care and support of Katherine. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hendrick Hospice Care 1682 Hickory, Abilene, Texas 79601 or to a charity of your choice.
