Charles Edwin Deaver

Charles E. Deaver(80) passed away at his residence Tuesday morning December 22, 2009. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 28, 2009 at 10:00 am at Cook Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Nichols and Rev. Reagan Cooksey officiating.

Burial will follow at North Belton Cemetery, Belton, Texas at 3:00 pm. Visitation will be from 4-6pm Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Sam Houston Funeral Home.

Charles was born August 16, 1929 in Tolar, Texas to Lola Maude and Clarence "CR" Deaver. He graduated from Salado High School in 1948. He served in the United States Air force from 1952 until 1956. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 32 years.

After he retired from Southwestern Bell he worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for 8 years.
He also taught Drivers Education for 2 years with the Huntsville School District. Charles was a member of Cook Springs Baptist Church and served as a Deacon for 21 years.
Charles also served as the Music director for several years at Cook Springs and Northside Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brothers Raymond Deaver, Royce Deaver, "Boo" Deaver, and Johnny Sid Deaver; two brother-in-laws Harrel Havens, Bert Peters.

Charles was followed in death by his wife of 59 years Alma Katherine Harkins Deaver; One sister Laura Mae Deaver Peters and one Brother in Law Denver Rogers.

Charles is survived by daughter Sherri Ray and husband Ronnie Ray of West Point, Texas, son Scott Deaver and wife Brandi Mixon-Deaver of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren Quintin Skidmore (wife Angie) of Giddings, Daniel Skidmore of Bastrop, and Kacy Jordy of Huntsville; five great grandchildren Madison and Teja Skidmore of Giddings, Johanna Skidmore of Bastrop, Allison and Breann Jordy of Huntsville; two sisters Doris Marie Deaver Havens of Belton and Shirley Maudine Deaver Rogers of Colgate, Oklahoma.
