A retired farmer and breeder of purebred polled shorthorn cattle, Stahl was a 1918 graduate of Sheridan High School and a 1922 graduate of Indiana University.
He was born Dec. 24, 1899 in Sheridan to William Homer and Lucinda E (Richardson) Stahl. He was a member of the Unitarian Church of Indianapolis and Americans United for the Separation of Church and State.
He was married to Josephine Rode in 1934. She died in 1974. Four brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
He is survived by a son, Neil Stahl of Appleton, Wis.; two sisters, Mrs. Edith McKinney of Sheridan and Mrs. Ethel Vobach of Indianapolis; three brothers, Russell, Herman and William, all of Sheridan; and a grandchild.
