William Burch Wilson Died May 19, 1995

William Burch Wilson, 86, of Athens, died Friday at NHC of Athens.

He was a well-known clock maker, buying, repairing and restoring antique clocks all over the United States for 35 years. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Lester, Lawrence, Roy and Dallas Wilson; his parents, Greeley and Annie Jenkins Wilson. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Idalou Cardin Wilson; three daughters, Hazel Womac and Wanda Crow, both of Riceville, and Ruth Grindstaff of Jonesboro; two sons, Jarvis D. Wilson of Oak Ridge and Dewey Wilson of Riceville; three sisters, Ruby Longwith and Pearl Goins, both of Cleveland, and Lucille Davis of Benton; a brother, Bud Wilson of Etowah; 19 grandchildren 30 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 4:30 p.m. today in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3-4:30 p.m. today prior to the service.
