His parents are Jean-Etienne "John E." Routier (1808-1866), and Marie-Augustine "Mary A." Arnould Routier (1816-1876). The Routier family emigrated in 1856 from Marne, Champagne-Ardenne, France. Other family members who came were: 23 year old Peter (1833-1892); 14 year old Anatole B. Routier (1841-1812), 8 year old Rosa Angelina Routier (1845-1923). John Routier came to Indianapolis, IN as a carpenter, established himself as a carpenter in business at the Capitol City Milling Mill where his sons and grandsons maintained a documented prominent reputation of carpentry business for many years.
Peter Routier married Clementine Picard. Their three children are: Edmund, Augustina and John.
