Clair E. Forney, 79, of White Station, Conemaugh Township, died on Saturday, December 24, 2005, in his home. Born August 15, 1926, in Brownstown, Armstrong County, he was a son of the late James and Jessie (Shultz) Forney.
Prior to retiring in 1988 Mr. Forney was employed by the Helen Mining Company in Homer City.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during WWII. Mr. Forney was a member of St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church and the American Legion both in Saltsburg. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 1989 and the U.M.W.A. He was an award winner of the American Poet's Society.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Forney of White Station and Colleen and husband Patrick Kelly of New Alexandria; two grandchildren, Brian and wife Andrea Kelly of New Alexandria and Christian and wife Kristy Kelly of Killeen, TX; a great granddaughter, Destinee Kelly of New Alexandria; a brother, Paul and wife Ida Forney of Saltsburg; and two sisters, Florence Shelkey of Fairless Hills, Pa and Rose and husband Robert Kenny of Oudm, GA.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Emma J. Forney in 1982, five brothers, Charles, James, Norman, Leonard and Lindburgh Forney; and four sisters, Clara Forney, Frances Yeager, Ruby Loaskie and Garnet Mae Truby.

The Forney family welcomed friends Monday in the Curran Funeral Home, Saltsburg. Funeral mass was celebrated on Tuesday in St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church, with Father Peter Peretti presiding.

Burial followed in St. Matthew's Church Cemetery, Saltsburg.
