Indianapolis Star, July 7, 1915.
Thomas E. Hibben.
A conspicuous fact in the life of Thomas E. Hibben, news of whose sudden and untimely death comes with a shock to a host of friends, is that though a successful business man he did not permit business to absorb all his time and energies, but took sufficient leisure for the gratification of his artistic tastes. Sometimes this pleasure was found in art production, as in the making of etchings; sometimes in improving photographic processes, again in the beautifying of a suburban home, and at all times he was an appreciative patron of art. Because he thus gratified his preferences in this direction life wa without doubt much richer for him than if he had allowed business to crowd them aside. His experience was a striking illustration of the desirability of indulging in a hobby. It is not every man who could find pleasure in the same lines that Mr. Hibben found so absorbing in his leisure hours, but he set other men an example. Mr. Hibben was a man of many fine qualities, a good citizen, a good neighbor and dependable in all the relations of life. His death means loss to the community.
