GEORGE E. LOWRY
(Special to The Daily Courier.)
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., March 2 - George E. Lowry, for nearly sixty years years a resident of Indianapolis, died Tuesday afternoon at the State Soldier's Home, Lafayette. Death was due to faulty heart action and complications. Mr. Lowry was a son of Wiley M. Lowry, a pioneer resident and druggist of Indianapolis. He was born in Knightstown, Ind., June 2, 1847, and removed with his parents to Indianapolis ten years later.
When only a few months more than 15 years old, he enlisted with a company of Indianapolis boys then forming for the civil war. His company became a part of the Thirteenth Indiana regiment.
Mr. Lowry had preserved for more than fifty years the blue uniform worn as a boy and will be buried in it.
Mr. Lowry is survived by five children, Edward H. Lowry of Terre Haute; George W. Lowry of Indianapolis; Clyde and Frank Lowry of Los Angeles, Cal.; and Mrs. Minnie Doremus of Minneapolis, Minn.; and one brother, R. W. Lowry of Indianapolis.
