The Indianapolis Board of Safety yesterday voted to commend Simpson Hart, a colored patrolman, because of his prompt and heroic action in saving the life of little Glenford Waldon, a colored child, when the child fall into the canal at Twelfth Street a few days ago. In addition to writing a letter to Hart, the Board will record the fact that he was commended in the permanent records of the department. The action followed a letter from Chief Metzger explaining the nature of the deed.
