Russell Jump died April 18, 2000, at the age of 105. His death follows that of his wife, Florence (Regnier) by approximately four months. After Russell's tour of duty with the Army Air Corps as a pilot and flight instructor the couple established a uniform manufacturing business, Arotex Co., in Wichita. For 39 years Florence designed the patterns and Russell took care of the accounts and other business. They sold the business, retiring in 1963. While a businessman in Wichita, Russell served as the mayor of Wichita in 1952 and 1953. The Jumps had celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary in 1998
