OBITUARY
Death of Dr. Frederick D. Stone, Librarian of the Pennsylvania Historical Society, of Philadelphia.
Dr. Frederick D. Stone, the long-time efficient Librarian of the Pennsylvania Historical Society, died somewhat suddenly at his home at Fishers's Lane, Philadelphia, on Thursday evening. Dr. Stone has for many years been in charge of the Library Department of the State Historical Society, and was a most accomplished and efficient Librarian. His death will be a loss to that institution it will be very difficult to replace.
Dr. Stone had been a sufferer with heart trouble for a number of years and it was this affection that caused his death. Several weeks ago be went to the Catskills in the home of improving his health, but his condition became worse and he was brought home several days before the end came. Deceased had a large circle of acquaintances in this city, by who his demise will be sincerely mourned. He married Anna E. Witmer, daughter of the late Adam R. Witmer of Paradise, who, with one son, Witmer, Assistant Curator at the Academy of Natural Sciences, Philadelphia, survives. Another son, Fred., a promising civil engineer, died eighteen months ago.
The funeral was held in Philadelphia on Monday morning at 11 o'clock.
