Funeral services for John Edgar Fisher of Waco, a former Gatesville resident, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Connally-Compton West Funeral Chapel in Waco. Rev. Paul Kluge officiated, and burial was in Restland Cemetery in Gatesville with graveside rites conducted by the Gatesville Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Fisher, 41, died Thursday night in a Waco hospital after an illness of several months.
He was born in Gatesville Aug. 22, 1935, and was graduated from Gatesville High School, where he was a star on the football team.
He married Miss Rita Henson of Gatesville and they had made their home in Waco the last 20 years.
Mr. Fisher was an inspector with the Texas Animal Health Commission. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waco, the West Masonic Lodge and the Texas Army National Guard.
He is survived by his wife; one son, John Fisher of Waco; his mother, Mrs. Mabel Brewer of Dallas; his father, Hollis Fisher of Chandler; and a brother, Bill Brewer of Dallas.
Pallbearers for Mr. Fisher's funeral were 0. N. Fuller Jr., Dr. Howard Allen, Dr. A. G. Patterson, Jerry Wolfe, Wayne Dunn, Andy Anderson, Billy Dyer and John Wayne Huntley.
