Larry D. Cockrell of Gatesville died at his home December 9. He was 54.
Services were held Friday at Scott's Funeral Home with Rev. Rex Tilly officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery.
He was born February 11,1938, near the Brookhaven community in what is now Fort Hood. He was the son of Mrs. Hettie Cockrell and the late T.F. (Top) Cockrell. He was reared and educated in Bell, Coryell and Lampasas counties.
Mr. Cockrell studied computers, graduating from a Fort Worth computer school, then entered the United States Navy and served four years.
After his stay in the Navy he became a computer analyst for the Army-Air Force Service Exchange and worked there for many years until retiring from the World Wide Headquarters in Dallas in 199l.
After his retirement he moved to Gatesville and lived there before moving to Three Rivers in 1989.
He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer.
Mr. Cockrell was also a member of Cold Springs Baptist Church.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, R.T. (Buck) Cockrell.
Survivors include two daughters, Delores Hupping of San Antonio and Dede Rodriquez of Bryan; one son, Tracy Cockrell of Gatesville; his mother, Hettie Cockrell of Gatesville; six sisters, Faye Murry, Edna Potvin, and Ferne Belknap, all of Gatesville, Dorothy Jones of Lake Jackson, Mable Benski of Arlington and Jo Palmer of Conroe; two brothers, T. F. (Tuffy) Cockrell of Huntsville and Sam Cockrell of Gatesville; three grandchildren and pne great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Andy Guerra, Joe Pat Rainer, Joe B. Jones, Bubba Geyer, Cotton Warren, G. K. Potvin, Dody Belknap, Phillip Murry and Lanny Beverly.
Honorary pallbearers were Clint Cockrell and Jim Skibo.
