Buel E. Berry of Gatesville died Jan. 30 in a Temple hospital. He was 84.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. today (Saturday) at Scott's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rex Tilly officiating. Burial will follow in Restland Cemetery.
He was born Nov. 4, 1912, in Coryell County to the late Charlie and Johnnie Berry. He attended school in Gatesville and he worked as a maintenance supervisor for the Texas Highway Department for 35 years, retiring in 1976. Upon his retirement, he became a full-time farmer and rancher. He was a longtime member of the volunteer fire department and Gatesville Masonic Lodge 197.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Berry, in 1971, and by a son, Lewis Harold Berry, in 1979.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Bone of Temple and Patsy Hinson of Randlett, OK; a son, Joe Berry of Malakoff; a brother, Garlon Berry of Corpus Christi; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Mike Bratton, Leo Womack, Donny Smart, Arden Gejewski, Mike Hamilton, David Clark and Emmett Dowell.
The family requests memorials be made to the Make a Wish Foundation.
