Garnet Lingenfelter
Garnet Lingenfelter, 91, of R.R. 5 in Canton died at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday (May 18, 1993) at Heartland Health Care in Canton.
Born July 24, 1901, in Fulton County, the daughter of Isaac and Ida Mae (Haines) Cadwalader, she married James M. Lingenfelter on June 4, 1921, in Peoria. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters, and two grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Wendyl Lingenfelter of Norris and James G. Lingenfelter of Canton; two daughters, Drusilla Sprague of Canton and Treva Allen of Bradenton, Fla., 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruby Cleer of Creve Coeur.
She was a housewife and a member of Mount Pleasant Church until the time of its closing. At the church she served as pianist, Sunday School teacher, and was a member of its Helpful Hand Class. She was presently a member of White Chapel United Methodist Church at rural Canton and of the Senior Citizens Retirees Club.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home, the Revs. Randy Lingenfelter and Ray Barker officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at White Chapel Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to her church or to Gideon’s International.
