Norman P. Wichmann, 75, Defiance, passed away Friday, December 25, 2009, at Brookview Healthcare Center.

He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on June 1, 1934. He was the son of the late Arthur and Dorothy (Lieberenz) Wichmann. Norm married Gladys Daniel on March 17, 1989, and she survives. Norm was the owner and operator of Wichmann Greenhouse and Florist in Defiance for many years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a helicopter mechanic in Alaska. He was a life member of VFW Post 3360, a past president of the Defiance Eagles and attended St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Besides his wife, Gladys, surviving are a son, Kevin Wichmann of Defiance; a brother, Richard (Betty) Wichmann of Colorado; stepdaughters, Cindy (Joe) Buerkle of Defiance, Sandy (Kim) Goings of Defiance, Annette (Jerry) Maples of Connersville, Ind.; stepsons, Bill (Kelly) Antoine of Defiance and John Antoine of Paulding; and grandchildren, stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beth Yohe; granddaughter, Nyssa Ann McFaddin; brother, Donald Wichmann; and sister, Luella Wichmann.

Services will be at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, Defiance, at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 28. Visitation is today from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens, where VFW Post 3360 will conduct honorary military services
