Services were held Wednesday at the Church of the Nazarene, Superior, for Wayne Cassens, 74.

He died Sunday at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital. The son of Cora (Heater) Brant and Jack Cassens, he was born on a farm near Cozad, Jan. 11, 1921. Before moving to Superior, he had lived in Republic and Lebanon. He married Atha Davidson Jan. 16, 1947, at Mankato. During WW II he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps and received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Service Ribbon, and the Presidential Unit Citation. He enjoyed playing his guitar, guns, coyote hunting and baseball. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, V.F.W. and Gideons International.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Marvin Roesti (Deloris), Burr Oak, and Nancy Nelson, Lawrence; two sons, Douglas, Webber, and Wesley, Hastings; two sisters, Marcile Imler, Hardy, and Barbara Ruser, Grant; two brothers, Jack Cassens, Grants Pass, Ore., and Bob Brant, Superior; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Pat Brant; three brothers, Dwight, Vaden and Richard Cassens, and one grandson.

Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Leland Smith officiating. Megrue-Price Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
