Major League Baseball Player. One of five brothers who played Major League baseball, he played for thirteen seasons as an infielder and outfielder for the Chicago Cubs (then called the Orphans), New York Giants, Boston Beaneaters (Braves), Cincinnati Reds, St. Louis Browns, Washington Senators, Detroit Tigers and Brooklyn Tip-Tops of the Federal League. The brother of Baseball Hall of Famer Ed Delahanty, his best years were with the four seasons with the Tigers from 1909 to 1912. He hit .339 in 1911 with a career high 94 Runs Batted In. In 1909, after being acquired mid-season by Detroit, he helped them capture the American League Pennant. In the 1909 World Series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, he batted .346 as the Tigers lost to Pittsburgh 4 games to 3. His last years were spent in the short-lived Federal League with the Tip-Tops. His career totals where 1,186 games played, 1,159 hits, 19 home runs, 489 runs batted in, and a career .283 batting average.
