Heather A. McLeod died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, in Butte.

She was born in Great Falls on Feb. 9, 1937, to Archie and Violet (Balagi) McLeod. She received her education in Great Falls and earned a degree in teaching from the University of Montana.

Heather taught theater at Carroll College before going to New York to act and direct plays in theaters.

She spent 11 years in New York before returning to Montana to care for her mother.

Heather moved to Butte in the mid 1980s and worked for KBOW and KOPR Radio until she retired.

Her love of the theater continued and she directed several plays in Butte. She also loved her animals and tending to her yard when she was able.

Heather was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Eva and Robert Balagi and Susan Pedisia.

She is survived by her half sister, Louisa Crews; and aunt, Marie "Cookie" Godlewski. She is also survived by numerous cousins.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
