The Service of Remembrance for Mrs. Linda C. Hutchins, age 86, of Inverness, Florida, will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 31, 2011, at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes with Pastor Donnie Seagle officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Inverness, Florida. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at the Inverness Chapel. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of memorial donations to the American Diabetes Association , P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. Born October 7, 1924 in College Park, GA, to Joseph Carter and Nettie (Carnes) Chapman, she came to Inverness from Douglasville, GA, in 1985. She died March 28, 2011, in Inverness, FL. She was a retired civil service employee, having worked for several U. S. government agencies, including the Veterans Administration in St. Petersburg, FL, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Miami, FL, and retiring from the National Park Service in Atlanta, GA. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Inverness, having served as Outreach Leader for the Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was an Emeritus member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Starlight Chapter No. 421, Atlanta, GA. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Sixth Marine Division Association Inc.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Lathan Hutchins, in 2009. Survivors include one daughter, Ginger L. Camp (Wayne) of Beverly Hills; two sons, William E. Hutchins (Kathy) of Columbia, SC, and John R. Hutchins (Jane) of Tallapoosa, GA; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Naomi Queen; one brother, Robert L. Chapman; and several nieces and nephews.
